Dog at the Beach

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." Anatole France

Two Black Dogs Foundation was founded in August 2023 by four friends who share a passion for animals. Combined our team has 20 years of experience advocating and rescuing animals, both individually and working with other organizations.

Rescues and municipal shelters in our area (and in most parts of the country) are drowning in animals, a problem that seems to get worse with each passing year. It is our mission to improve the lives of companion animals in underserved communities through affordable spay and neuter, education and rescue. By reducing the number of litters born each year, we reduce the number of animals dying in shelters and on the streets.

Our Team.

"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" -Helen Keller

"Why do you help animals and not people?" It's a question I get asked all the time.

"Ten years ago someone put a scared, defeated, scruffy black puppy in my lap, and my world changed forever. I was at a point in my life where I was struggling to make it through each day. That scruffy little dog was there for me when I felt like people had failed, and having her by my side helped pull me out of a place so dark I thought I'd never get out.

What we do isn't just about helping animals, we help their owners too. If you have never been so broken that you had to choose between paying your car insurance, or getting your animal fixed...you wouldn't understand. If you have never had to choose between groceries to feed your family for a week, or a bag of dog food for your dog...you wouldn't understand. "Being poor" or struggling financially doesn't mean someone is unworthy of the love and companionship of a pet. That dog or cat might be the only thing that person has left, and who are we to turn a blind eye to the suffering of both human AND animal?

Compassion comes in many forms, and it takes all kinds to make this world a better place."
